With two of our founders currently residing in Los Angeles, we have to tell you about Pioneertown, Joshua Tree’s lesser known sibling. Originally built as an old Western movie set in the 1940s, it is slowly but surely becoming a vibrant and creative desert community. With the old bank, jail, and saloon facades still intact from its Wild West days, this place is truly one of a kind. With everything from stargazing to rock climbing at your disposal, make sure that you don’t overlook Pappy & Harriet’s Pioneer Town Palace. From its rickety front door to its kitschy décor and live music, this is a place you will not regret visiting. If you get sick of Pioneertown during your weekend getaway, know that popular spots like Joshua Tree and Palm Springs are within driving distance, as well as the old-fashioned Smiths Ranch Drive-in Theater.
