If you’re an animal lover you are likely familiar with Rwanda, as it’s home to the endangered mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park.

There are currently 10 habituated gorilla families open to tourist visits, so trekking permits are limited to a mere 80 per day. But it is, needless to say, an unforgettable experience if you have the opportunity to do it. If not, remember that you are in a wildlife-rich country with lots of national parks and animals.

From the chimpanzees of Nyungwe Forest National Park to the more traditional Big 5 wildlife safari in Akagera National Park, Rwanda has numerous must-see attractions.
